Lili and Captain Adorable (a.k.a. Arlo)

May 13th, 2009 by Steven

Arlo turned four months old last week. He’s smiling and laughing now, though I can’t get him to do that for the camera, yet. But, I was able to capture Lili singing “You’re A Grand Old Flag”, which she learned this past year in vocal class at her school. Here are Lili and Captain Adorable (a.k.a. Arlo) doing their thing:

Right Livelihood

April 29th, 2009 by Jennifer

Lili’s assignment for her school’s Career Day has sparked a rapid evolution in what she wants to be when she grows up. For many years now she has wanted to be a Phlebotomist or “a blood-work person”, sometimes with the addition of being a mother as well, “blood-work Mommy”. Upon getting her assignment for career day to write and draw a picture about what she wants to do when she grows up, she excitedly declared she wanted to be an artist. Then after talking with her cousin she decided on Veterinarian, which is what she ended up writing/drawing about. (very cute pic of her wearing pants and with her hair in a bun, weighing a squirrel!) 2009 03 22_0075

Here’s a completely unrelated picture of Lili, having dressed up Arlo in one of her dress-up dresses. Oh, the plight of having a big sister!

The beloved swing

April 21st, 2009 by Jennifer

Well apparently three months old is the magic number for success with the swing! For the past week Arlo has been captivated by the mobile while swinging in the swing until he falls asleep! This is good, because I think he may have started teething. He is stuffing his fingers in his mouth, biting the nipples every couple sips of formula, and seems more fussy lately.2009 04 12_0008Arlo is also holding his head up pretty well these days, and has started lifting his head in anticipation of being picked up when I reach   out my arms to him.

Happy Easter!

Lili shows her finds at the Bodine St. Garden easter egg hunt

Lili welcomed Easter at 6am this morning and had fun finding eggs the Easter Bunny had left. Later, we had a great time at the Bodine Street Garden Easter Egg hunt. The chilly weather sent us inside Tracy, Mia and Phine’s house, where we had fun hanging out while the kids had lunch. We returned home and Lili spent the rest of the day playing with Legos and Matchbox cars. It was a laid back, enjoyable Easter.Happy Easter 2009!

Here’s a picture of Lili and Arlo, still in their Easter outfits. (Arlo’s was one piece and  zipped up the back—thanks cousin Gavin!)

Jen’s first blog post!

April 9th, 2009 by Jennifer

Hello, I’m finally learning how to blog! …mostly so I can track Arlo’s milestones before I forget them! (In typical second child fashion, he doesn’t have the multiple documentation that his big sister has.) So here I go: 3 or 4 weeks ago Arlo ga100_3481ve his first social smile to Steven when he woke up in the morning! Especially after Arlo is finished eating, he likes to smile.

He turned three months old on April 7th, and for the past week Arlo has really been holding eye contact for several minutes at a time, all along cooing a very involved conversation with lots of smiles. He is also reaching out for things. He’ll turn on and off his crib aquarium toy, and he’ll reach for my hand when I press on the outside of his co-sleeper.

The increased interaction is wonderful, but I have to say that one of the best milestones is that for the past four nights he’s been sleeping through the night—and not just the crazy 6 hour qualifying minimum—but 9 hours!
